Louis Vuitton : focus on Tambour watch celebrating its tenth anniversary this year

This iconic design, the hallmark of Louis Vuitton‘s watchmaking expertise, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

In 2002, Tambour, a truly innovative shape in the watchmaking industry, incorporated all the Maison‘s values into its design : the twelve letters of Louis Vuitton engraved on the case, next to each hour, the brown dial and the yellow of the seconds hands, echoing the waxed thread of the Louis Vuitton bags. As well as these references – from high complications to simpler quartz three hand watches – Tambour has come to symbolize identity, a signature, combining timeless looks with the highest technical standards.
With the recent acquisition in 2011 of La Fabrique du Temps – the swiss manufacturer which specialises in the design and manufacturing of fine-watchmaking movements, including tourbillons and minute repeaters – and Léman Cadran in 2012 – the Geneva- based watch dial manufacturer renowned for its know-how and the sophistication of its creations – Louis Vuitton continues to set ever-higher standards of excellence in the development of new complications, and in the integration of the high watchmaking know-how.
“Our aim is to develop new features that reflect the Louis Vuitton values. The development of movements designed by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton is the very essence of our watchmaking future” said Hamdi Chatti.
Next step in 2013, the new Manufacture Louis Vuitton will be opened in Meyrin (Geneva).
