Van Cleef & Arpels, with its Butterfly Symphony watch from the Poetic ComplicationsTM collection, has been awarded on November 18th, the Ladies watch prize of the Grand Prix du Public 2011 of Geneva.
The Grand Prix du Public is the only watch prize which laureates are elected by the public, without a jury’s intervention. During the evening event, three awards were presented, including the Ladies watch, which went to Van Cleef & Arpels for the Butterfly Symphony timepiece.
The next day, the November 19th, the Lady Arpels Polar Landscape seal decor has been decerned the prestigious Jewellery and artistic crafts watch prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2011.
The mission of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève is to encourage creativity and introduce new watchmaking talent. During the evening event, eleven awards were presented, including the prestigious Jewellery and artistic crafts watch prize, which went to Van Cleef & Arpels for the Lady Arpels Polar Landscape seal decor timepiece.
The Butterfly Symphony timepiece
On this precious timepiece’s dial, butterflies tell the time with a flutter of their wings. Led by the retrograde movement, the Butterfly Symphony watch illustrates the love dance of two butterflies. One indicates the minutes, the other marks the pace of the hours. They each take their turn to weave in and out of a majestic oak’s foliage, playing hide and seek. At twelve, they meet at last. The day separates them once more. Midnight reunites them and they sparkle with pleasure. The next day renews this game of love…
A sublime fruit of Van Cleef & Arpels’ imagination, the Poetic ComplicationsTM watches represent an original approach to High Watchmaking: the rigorous precision of the complication movements is married to the creative virtuosity of the Maison’s workshops. This enables Van Cleef & Arpels to add an intimate dimension to these precious watches – time that beats to the pulse of happiness and emotion.
The Lady Arpels Polar Landscape seal decor timepiece
Sky of turquoise mother-of-pearl, waves in enamel, icebergs in sculpted mother-of-pearl, animals with coats set with diamonds, the most precious materials ennoble an accurate movement, giving time a poetic dimension that is unique to Van Cleef & Arpels.
Enamellers, engravers and stone cutters are all contributing with their expertise to enrich the work of the watchmakers and thus to create this Extraordinary Dial timepiece.
