The Prix de Diane Longines launching has taken place yesterday on the “Tir aux pigeons” domain, in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne. As Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch, Longines joined France Galop to unveil the program of the 2015 edition of this much awaited race day where sport performances, outstanding elegance and many surprises will meet up. Besides, the Longines Ambassador of Elegance Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will enlighten the 2015 Prix de Diane Longines.

On Tuesday 19 May, Longines and France Galop presented to the media and guests the program of the Prix de Diane Longines on the “Tir au pigeons” domain, a true haven of greenery, as a teaser of this year’s theme: “Garden Party”.

The highlights of the day are the nine exciting races including the famous Prix de Diane Longines, the world’s top race for fillies, held during the afternoon in the sophisticated atmosphere of the Chantilly Racecourse. Longines will renew the Prix Longines Future Racing Stars where talented young jockeys from all over the world compete. More generally, Longines supports young sportsmen and women through different programs linked with sport and the values – Elegance, Tradition and Performance – that it upholds.

Moreover, amateur riders of the FEGENTRI (International Federation of Gentlemen and Lady Riders) will compete for the Prix de La Reine Marie-Amélie Longines. This race is part of Longines’ partnership with the FEGENTRI, of which the Swiss watch brand is the Official Partner and Timekeeper. Under the terms of this agreement, Longines is also lending its name to the men’s and women’s championships organised by the FEGENTRI and the rankings of the participants: the Longines World FEGENTRI Champion Rankings for Lady Riders and Gentlemen Riders.

The riders starting orders of the three above mentioned races shall be determined by drawing lots, which will take place on Friday 12 June in the legendary Longchamp hippodrome.

The Prix de Diane Longines 2015 : a 166th edition with races, elegance and wonders in Chantilly

First of all, actress and former Miss World Longines Ambassador of Elegance Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will grace the event with her presence. She will be presenting the “Mademoiselle Diane par Longines” award during the afternoon to a young lady chosen for her outstanding elegance.

Besides, the venue of Aishwarya Ray Bachchan coincides with the launch event of the renewed Longines DolceVita collection, which will be garden party thrown by the Swiss watch brand in Chantilly on Saturday 13 June. For many years, the actress has been wearing timepieces of this collection, heir to a tradition where elegance takes the leading role. On top of that, the Official Watch of the Prix de Diane Longines is a new Longines DolceVita watch cased in steel, decorated with diamonds and featuring a silver-coloured “flinqué” dial adorned with painted Roman numerals.

Then, “Garden Party”, as this year’s theme, inspired the Swiss watch brand, which will surprise the visitors by offering them a moment of fun and nostalgia on its new horse carousel installed at the heart of the chic atmosphere of the Prix de Diane Longines Village. Tickets are available in the Paris Longines Boutique at the Rue de Sèvre.

Finally, on Friday 12, Longines and the Fondation de Chantilly will inaugurate the temporary exhibition of artistic and historical photography called “Turf”, which relates to the world of horse racing. In the imposing building of Chantilly’s « Grandes Écuries », the visitors will discover a hundred of pictures in high format and be immersed in the special atmosphere of flat racing during the whole summer.

Longines DolceVita – a new approach to charm and grace

Since its inception, the Longines DolceVita collection has illustrated contemporary elegance of the Longines watchmaking brand worldwide. Inspired by the “Dolce Vita”, it is an homage to the sweetness of life. Today, a new chapter in this collection opens with a unique interpretation featuring softened lines. These new variations will not fail to impress women who have made charm a way of life.

A worthy heir to a tradition where elegance takes the leading role, the Longines DolceVita collection has met with widespread global success since its inception. Inspired by the Italian sweet life, the “Dolce Vita”, it is worn on the wrists of women who know how to make the most of life’s simple pleasures. As a tribute to those women, Longines has decided to offer a new interpretation of this collection, subtly combining geometric lines with soft curves. The lines of the rectangular case have thus been elongated and arched, some models enhanced with diamonds, to magnify the contemporary elegance and femininity of these new pieces.

These new decidedly feminine and charming designs will not fail to delight women who boast a joyful, carefree attitude and love to wear adornment that reflects their style for a happy and colourful picnic at the racetrack.

Cased in steel, and sometimes decorated with diamonds, the Longines DolceVita collection comes in four dimensions. A silver-coloured “flinqué” dial adorned with painted Roman numerals and a black lacquered or white mother-of-pearl dial with diamonds decorates the watches of this line. Slender rhodium-plated or blued-steel hands point to the passing hours and minutes. With their quartz movement, the timepieces are finished by a choice of black, white, grey or red leather straps or by a stainless steel bracelet.
