DESCRIPTION

  • Reflet "An Iconic, Modern Watch"

There are tales one never tires of telling… so very fantastic that they are always heard with the same enjoyment. Such is the case for the emblematic Reflet model created in 1947, which has passed the test of time with unaltered allure and charm. From the very beginning, it has always combined fine aesthetics and innovation: its strap, featuring an invisible and interchangeable clasp, was one of the reasons for the instant success of this rectangular watch, initially designed for gentlemen of taste and character. Though most popular with women, this marvellous piece, with its emblematic gadroon bezel design, never ceased to strive for perfection in order to recover its rightful place in the heart of men. In 2008, on the occasion of its 150th birthday, Boucheron launched a limitededition Reflet XL in a discerning partnership with Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux: the timepiece was fitted with the manufacture’s GP 4000 self-winding automatic mechanical movement.
Since then, the Reflet has continued to take on many forms, each fully expressing the elegance and savoir-faire which have always made the brand’s repute. With its latest models, the House of Boucheron chose to once again bring together the luxury of French jewellery and technical excellence. However, aficionados should not be mistaken! Alongside the inherent chic of this watch – a favourite gift from Edith Piaf to her lovers - they will naturally recognize all the codes of delicate sensuality characteristic of the House of Boucheron that make Reflet such a timeless model. The secret probably lies in the ability to strike a fine balance between historic heritage and innovation, making these new pieces essentials of genuine modernity put at the service of elegance.

    Reflet XL Seconde Folle

With every glance at its dial, Boucheron’s Reflet XL “Seconde Folle” watch reflects the seconds ticking by with a touch of folly, as if to demystify the inexorable weight of passing time. Available in steel and rose gold, the Reflet XL “Seconde Folle” is a reinterpretation of the iconic oblong watch with interchangeable straps created by Boucheron in 1947. As a distinctive sign of its vision of watch-making with an affirmed jewellery character, deeply rooted in the third millennium, the new version features an oval display at 7 o’clock designed to make the passing of every second a permanently changing dance.
Indeed, for this season, the new collection pulses at a rate of 28 800 vibrations per hour, thanks to the automatic self-winding mechanical calibre - reference GP4000 - developed by the Girard-Perregaux manufacture, with a marked emphasis on elliptic shapes. The House of Boucheron requested that a function module be added to the manufacture’s GP4000 calibre, in order to replace the regular seconds hand with a rotating disk, thanks to which the ordinarily circular information would now follow an elliptic route, a little like the path the earth follows around the sun. The graduated rotating disk features a trompe-l’oeil seconds hand, creating the illusion that the hand lengthens and shortens with the passing of time. Like any other prestigious firm, the House of Boucheron hallmarks each of its creations with a unique graphic signature, in addition to its maker’s mark. The Reflet XL watch, with its powerful and slightly curved rectangle enlivened with vertical gadroons, perfectly follows the wrist’s natural curves… but this was not enough. The dial, adorned with applied Arabic numerals and indexes, features the Boucheron name vertically. This one-of-a-kind style of presentation is unique in the industry, and denotes a taste for the original designed to foster curiosity. Under their markedly tame appearance, the creations of the House at 26 Place Vendôme have always set the trend. In creating this whole new way of reading the time, the House of Boucheron demonstrates just how delicate and sensual this new visual appraisal of time can be..
