Eterna, partners with the Crédit Agricole Suisse Open Gstaad

By MyWatch
Following up on its success in 2013, Eterna has once again decided to connect with this prestigious tournament with which it shares certain values like precision and emotion. The world’s best players, including Stan Wawrinka, will be meeting at the famous resort in the heart of Switzerland’s Bernese Alps from July 19 to 27, 2014. The winner and runner-up will each receive an Eterna watch following the final match on Sunday, July 27.
“We are proud to be a partner of Crédit Agricole Suisse Open Gstaad, which, like Eterna, enjoys a long tradition and an international reputation,” said Eterna vice-president Bruno Jufer.
Eterna will be exhibiting a sample from its five collections in the middle of the host village: Classics, Contemporary, Adventure, Heritage and the Ladies Line. The Grenchen-based brand will use the space to unveil two models presented as a pre-première at Baselworld 2014, the 1948 Legacy Big Date and the Royal KonTiki Two Time Zones.
1948 Legacy
From 1948 on, Swiss-made self-winding movements benefited from a major technical advance devised and implemented by Eterna: ball-bearing assisted rotational movement. Swiss wristwatches fitted with this revolutionary innovation soon enjoyed worldwide success, sol-idly consolidating Eterna’s international reputation. Today’s revival of the “1948” in a dimensionally updated version preserves the technical inventiveness and overall excellence of the original. A contemporary classic in its own right, its shapely contours and typically incurved case lugs are back essentially unchanged
Royal KonTiki
Long celebrated, KonTiki is back. Countless changes and improvements later, that historic timepiece has morphed into today’s sturdy, sporty KonTiki. What’s more, it comes with a brand-new heart.
Quite some heart too! This model is the first to be equipped with Eterna’s new Calibre 39. This little mechanical gem really sums up the company’s centuries-old history. It owes its existence to the the combined efforts of the company’s teams of watchmakers and technicians’ drive to design and devel-op a proprietary calibre family whose streamlined construction would be optimised. The new calibre family’s initial version, calibre 3945A, was chosen for the new, handsomely designed model, the Royal KonTiki Two Time Zones. In line with the proud traditions of the KonTiki family, the newcomer’s rug-ged yet stylish design reflects its sporting spirit.
