In order to minimise the environmental impact of its activities, the Grande Maison is investing in electric vehicles.<\/strong><\/div>\n
The general increase in the Manufacture\u2019s workforce \u2013 which numbers 1,200 employees in 2012 \u2013 has meant taking responsibility with regard to the community, particularly in terms of pollution and noise levels linked with different means of transport. After setting up public transport service by bus and encouraging car-sharing since October 2007, Jaeger-LeCoultre is now confirming its commitment to environmental protection by replacing one of its company cars with an electric car branded Jaeger-LeCoultre.<\/div>\n

The electric car will not only be used by the Manufacture\u2019s corporate services, but will also be available several days a week for employees to test this rapidly growing technology. Jaeger-LeCoultre is also devoting three parking places to employees\u2019 electric cars. The three spots will be equipped with an electric terminal for recharging the vehicles during the day.<\/div>\n

This initiative lends a new dimension to the more global sustainable transportation or \u201csoft mobility\u201d project initiated by the Manufacture a few years ago. In addition to improving the impact of the Great House\u2019s activities on the environment, the aim is to raise awareness amongst employees regarding electric cars while facilitating the use thereof.<\/div>\n

Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre powered by green electricity<\/strong><\/div>\n
In 2009, with the extension of the Manufacture, a new dimension was added to the Making Time More Beautiful project. Solar panels were installed on the roof of the new building in order to supply all its hot water requirements and around a third of its electrical needs. For the remaining two thirds, the Manufacture chose to use a local source of eco-friendly electricity by acquiring eco-hydropower from Romande Energie. This green power is produced using water from the lakes and rivers in the Vall\u00e9e de Joux. This approach earned the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre the Hydro-locale label and thus emphasies its desire to promote regional potential and clean energy resources.<\/div>\n
