The Lumi\u00e8re Award was created by The Lumi\u00e8re Institute to celebrate an artist, in Lyon, the very place where the cinematograph was invented by Louis and Auguste Lumi\u00e8re, where they shot their first film, Sortie d\u2019Usine, in 1895.<\/div>\n
Following the award ceremony, Quentin Tarantino was presented a Girard-Perregaux 1966 Annual Calendar and Equation of Time.<\/div>\n
\u2018Quentin Tarantino has left his mark on cinema to become one of the most influential and distinctive directors of his generation. His bold creative spirit has brought great innovation to modern cinema\u2019, said Michele Sofisti.<\/div>\n
With this partnership, Girard-Perregaux will support the Institut Lumi\u00e8re in its ongoing efforts to work on the promotion of film heritage.<\/div>\n
The Lumi\u00e8re film festival is part of the Brand\u2019s engagement on behalf of the cinema. Late in 2012, Girard-Perregaux announced it would be the Exclusive Timekeeper and a Founding Supporter of the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, to be located in Los Angeles and slated to open in 2016.<\/div>\n

ABOUT FESTIVAL LUMIERE<\/strong><\/div>\n
Created in October 2009, the festival Lumi\u00e8re is entirely dedicated to the history of cinema,for the general public, with the presence of numerous artists and personalities. Once a year, Lyon invites the world of cinema to celebrate is vitality and its memory. At the heart of the festival is the Lumi\u00e8re Award, presented to a cinema personality. After Clint Eastwood, Milos Forman, G\u00e9rard Depardieu and Ken Loach, it is Quentin Tarantino who will receive the Lumi\u00e8re Award in 2013.<\/div>\n
The festival will be held from Monday, October 14 to Sunday, October 20, 2013.<\/div>\n
