Slimness and performance in perfect balance.
The new caliber is presented in an 18k gold case with 38 diamonds.

The new caliber is designed to offer both a slim profile and a high level of performance, in terms of both precision and power reserve. It is just 4.49 mm in height, allowing the case to fit every wrist and yet it delivers a 50 hour power reserve and is precise to +8 to -3 seconds a day.

This delicate balance between the size and functionality of Caliber 9S25 is made possible by the use of Grand Seiko’s most advanced technologies, including the latest Spron 610 alloy for the balance spring and MEMS engineering for the pallet fork, escapement wheel and other key components. To ensure maximum energy efficiency, the gear train layout and gear teeth profiles have been completely redesigned.

The watch is an 8 beat caliber with 33 jewels. Like all other Grand Seiko mechanical watches, it is made and assembled by hand at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Morioka. No compromises are made at any stage: each 9S25 movement is subject to the same rigorous 17 day testing process as every men’s Grand Seiko mechanical watch.

Hidden within the movement is the escapement wheel which takes the shape of a five-petal flower.

The crisp angles and delicate curves of the case enhance the elegance

The bezel features 60 diamond-cut facets as the setting for the 37 diamonds that adorn its edge. One larger diamond is set into the crown.

A silver snow dial, set in a circle of diamonds

The rich look of the dial is achieved with silver lamé that echoes the texture of the snow on Mt Iwate, which overlooks the Shizukuishi Watch Studio. Eleven diamonds mark the hours.

So much more than meets the eye

The sapphire case back reveals the inner beauty of the new caliber and the painstaking care taken over its brightly shining finish. Alongside the Grand Seiko lion emblem, the words “Caliber 9S 20th Anniversary Since 1998” are inscribed. Each watch’s unique serial number is engraved on the case back.

An additional white strap, carries a Japanese aesthetic

The upper section of the second strap is made of grosgrain fabric – but behind this subtle white surface lies a second, hidden layer made of the finest crocodile leather.
