DESCRIPTION

  • The Longines Sport Collection: new additions in 2009

New creations have been added to the Longines Sport Collection, the Swiss watch brand known by its winged hourglass logo. The Admiral and GrandeVitesse lines have been expanded to include four new models. Ceramic versions of the 24-hour model with a second time-zone and the chronograph model have been added to the Admiral range. Moreover, a special model which combines the two functions has been created for each line. Launched in 2008, Longines Admiral – with its sleek but robust silhouette – is a perfect example of Longines’ innate ability to marry elegance and performance. The GrandeVitesse line embodies the concept of high speed through a series of models that pay tribute to the memory of the fastest men in history. With their fluid lines, aerodynamic curves and double tachymeter they are bound to catch the eye of today’s daring sportsmen who love high speed.

    GrandeVitesse

Longines created the GrandeVitesse line to embody the concept of speed through a series of models that pay tribute to the fastest men in history and are intended for the more intrepid among today’s sportsmen. This watch – designed for speed – is characterised by its fluid lines, its aerodynamic curves, its impressive typography, its tachymeter and the finish of its push-pieces.

And now a new model has been added to this range: the GrandeVitesse Chronograph 24h. The impressive case (diameter 44 mm) is fitted with the same L686 movement used in its sister model in the Longines Admiral line. The case features a double tachymeter on the bezel. Graduated in kph as well as MPH, it can be used for measuring ground-speeds of up to Mach 2. The dial in a choice of black, dark brown or white with a silver sun pattern and featuring a “large 12” brings a sporty touch as well as elegance to the model. This sporty aspect is emphasised by the non-slip surface of the crown, the caseband and the pushpieces. The latest addition to the GrandeVitesse line is available on a steel bracelet with a triple folding safety clasp or a black or dark brown leather strap lined with alcantara and fitted with a folding clasp.

Based in St. Imier in Switzerland since 1832, the watchmaker Longines can look back on more than 175 years of non-stop craftsmanship, as well as a solid heritage as timekeeper for world championships in various sports and collaborator with different international sports federations. Known for the elegance of its timepieces, Longines is a member of the Swatch Group Ltd, the World’s leading manufacturer of horological products. With the winged hourglass as its emblem, the brand has outlets in over 130 countries.
