The watchmaking house adds new Ranger models to its expedition watches collection, taking after a legacy forged under the harshest conditions. From Greenland’s icefields during 1950’s British North Greenland Expedition to the Empty Quarter’s scorching dunes that hosted the Dakar Rally, Tudor’s watches have been escorting for decades those who prefer the skyline to their comfort zone.

“Dune White”: meet a new dial color that celebrates the partnership with the Dakar Rally as Tudor is now their official timekeeper.

Snow storm or sand storm: how about resisting both?

The new Ranger models take after this adventurous spirit, now available under 36mm and 39mm dimensions, adorned by a new “Dune White” dial with a matte finish. Here’s a subtle nod to the arid expanses whose stifling heat and lack of landmarks make any mechanical breakdown… unthinkable. The watchword is simple: the simpler, the less risky. On the Dakar Rally as well as in the watchmaking industry, it’s self-evident.

The Ranger models are also available on muddy brown fabric straps, woven by hand on 19th century Jacquard looms.

These Ranger models, designed as true tool watches, stick to the essential: liability, sturdiness and reliability. The tight yet functional outlines of the 316L stainless-steel case – entirely satin-finished – prevent harsh reflections. Some polished touches, especially around the smooth bezel, underline the watch’s architecture. Water-resistant up to 100 meters, protected by a cambered sapphire glass, this model is ready to face any weather condition.

These Ranger editions are also available with a black dial and luminescent indices.

Whether black and grained, or matte “Dune White”, the dial takes after the Ranger’s iconic features: large Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, vintage-looking indices and emblematic hands – rounded arrow hours hand, angular red-tipped seconds hand for Tudor’s signature, both coated in grade A Super-LumiNova®. Ultimate liability.

The 36mm models are 11mm-thick, while the 39mm ones are 12mm-thick.

Heavy stuff under the bonnet

As for the mechanical aspect, Tudor leaves no room for approximation. The 36mm and 39mm models are respectively powered by the manufacture calibres MT5400 and MT5402. These self-winding bidirectional movements are built to last: variable inertia balances, anti-magnetic silicon balance springs and traversing bridges.

The manufacture calibres MT5400 and MT5402 respectively power the 36mm and 39mm Ranger models.

Thus, this watch is certified chronometer by the COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute), with exceptionally superior performances: a variation rate of -2/+4 seconds per day. Cherry on top, a power reserve of 70 hours that makes this Ranger model officially “week-end proof”.

A bracelet ready to go the distance

As for the bracelet, Tudor provides 2 looks: a 3-link stainless-steel bracelet equipped with a toolless T-fit clasp (with 5 positions on 8mm) or a muddy brown fabric strap woven by hand in France on 19th century Jacquard looms. A comfortable and super-sturdy success that perfectly echoes the expedition spirit.

The indices of the black grained dial are coated in grade A Super-LumiNova.

As legendary as it is, the best way to try out a Ranger watch is on training ground – a convenient, reliable and stylish tool. Whether worn by an arctic explorer, a lumberjack or the driver of a Dakar race car thrown at top speed among sand dunes, Ranger watches honor their duty: giving the right time, no matter what.
