Different watches for different folks

This new video could have probably been titled ‘Tell me what kind of watch you wear, and I’ll tell you who you are’. Whether you are a golfer, a bartender, a diver, a rugby player, there’s a watch out there for everyone, each with a unique style.

By Chloé Redler

Our favourite watch says a lot about our personality. Every style has an associated timepiece, be you elegant, sporty, sophisticated, or complex. The five watches we have picked uphold this rule.

TAG HEUER Connected Calibre E4 x Malbon Golf Edition, for the golfer

Fans of the green and the little white ball will be thrilled to learn about this new TAG Heuer and Malbon Golf collaboration. The lifestyle brand and the Swiss watchmaker join forces to bring you a stylish connected watch.

TAG HEUER Connected Calibre E4 x Malbon Golf Edition.

The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 x Malbon Golf Edition is equipped with a 45mm grade II titanium case with a black DLC coating. Golfers can now focus all their attention on the game since this precision instrument, coloured turquoise and green (Malbon Golf’s signature colours), is extremely lightweight. This smart watch also has a couple of tricks up its sleeve, like the 18 holes marked around the ceramic bezel, and the choice between two different displays on the dial: either one with Bucket, the Malbon mascot, or a more traditional dial inspired by that of the iconic Heuer 02.

The TAG HEUER Connected Calibre E4 x Malbon Golf Edition can also display a dial inspired by that of the iconic Heuer 02.

This watch is a bona fide miniature caddie who will keep track of your swings, the projected distance of your next swings, all the while giving you tips on which club to use. This special edition is also a wellness watch, monitoring your vitals and can be worn when practicing other sports too. Other features of this watch include sensors that measure your heartbeat, a chronometer, a microphone, a timer, a compass, a gyroscope, an accelerometer, a barometer, and an alarm. Water resistant up to 50m, this model comes with a double material yellow rubber and green leather, and with a 24h power reserve, giving you plenty of time to perfect your swing.

SEIKO Presage Cocktail Time, for the bartender

The Seiko Presage Collection’s Cocktail Time ‘Tokyo Magic Hour’.

The arrival of two new models in the Presage Cocktail Time collection by Seiko, inspired by the many colours of cocktail bars, is causing a stir. ‘Tokyo Magic Hour’ is the colour pallet for the two newcomers, which were created by Mr Misashi Kishi, the head barman at the Star Bar – located in the Ginza neighbourhood of Tokyo. If you face east, you will see the ‘Pinky Twilight’ with its 30.3mm case and its dial with pink shading that evokes the light of dawn over the Japanese capital. If you face west, you will see the aptly titled ‘Purple Sunset’ with its 40.5mm case and its deep purple red and blue tones. Both are equipped with an automatic calibre with a 48h power reserve. The ‘Pinky Twilight’ comes with a beige calfskin bracelet, and the ‘Purple Sunset’ with a dark brown calfskin one.

IWC, Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Top Gun Woodland, for the aviator

The Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Top Gun Woodland by IWC.

The Schaffhausen manufacture has already demonstrated its skill in creating coloured ceramics, and by introducing two new models to its Top Gun collection IWC shows us it is still very capable. One of these two new recruits is this Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Top Gun Woodland. The Woodland green ceramic case measures 46mm in diameter and is water resistant up to 100m. This particular green hue is reminiscent of the uniforms the TOP GUN fighter pilots wore in the eponymous movie. It is also a reference to the vast areas of forest that they usually fly over.

The patented Timezoner® feature allows you to set the watch to a different time zone with a simple pressing down and rotation of the bezel.

This precision instrument is equipped with both a Ceratanium® crown, a special in-house material that combines the toughness of titanium and the scratch resistance of ceramics, and the Timezoner® feature, which allows you to set the watch to a different time zone with a simple pressing down and rotation of the bezel. This rotating bezel displays the names of 24 major cities, each representing one of the international time zones. The beating heart of this timepiece is an in-house automatic calibre, equipped with a Pellaton winding system, and a 60h power reserve.

The automatic movement can be glimpsed through the tinted sapphire glass case back.

BAUSELE, Air Force 5th Generation Edition, another one for the pilots

BAUSELE Air Force 5th Generation Edition.

Bausele, the Australian watchmaker unveils its Air Force 5th Generation Edition watch, released as a tribute to the Royal Australian Air Force. This exclusive watch is a 200-piece limited edition and is equipped with a sandblasted 316L stainless steel case, and a SW200 Sellita movement. The 38h power reserve is protected by a steel case back and engraved with a kangaroo, how very Australian. Enclosed within a case that is water resistant up to 200m, the delicate blue sfumato dial displays imposing luminescent hands and indices – for an optimal readability in any situation.

The indices and hands are coated in a luminescent material, which provides excellent readability.

Better still, the strap is made of upcycled plastic from ocean waste. An interesting detail on this watch is the screwed-down crown, or rather, what’s in the crown: sand from Point Cook, home of the oldest active Air Force base in Australia – established in 1914 – and birthplace of the Royal Australian Airforce. An incredible find indeed.

The case back is engraved with a kangaroo, Australia’s national animal.
