WATCHMAKING COLLABORATION

TAG Heuer x fragment: minimalism with precision

The two brands are continuing their creative collaboration, which began in 2018, and returning to the iconic Carrera to deliver an interpretation that is as refined as it is masterful. With the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition, the two companies have created a piece that encapsulates their DNA: Swiss watchmaking heritage on the one hand, and a keen sense of design and streetwear culture on the other.

TAG Heuer and fragment continue their creative dialogue with the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment.

A collaboration based on a shared aesthetic vision

Hiroshi Fujiwara, founder of fragment and a major figure on the global creative scene, is often described as the ‘godfather of streetwear’. A collector, meticulous designer and watchmaking enthusiast, he finds common ground with TAG Heuer in their shared passion for functional aesthetics where every detail counts. The first two collaborations – which became cult classics almost instantly – sealed the obviousness of this alliance. This third opus definitively confirms the strength of their dialogue.

Internationally recognised as a cultural pioneer, Hiroshi Fujiwara is often referred to as the godfather of streetwear.

” This collaboration brings us back to the essence of sustainable design,‘ explains Antoine Pin, CEO of TAG Heuer, emphasising this shared vision where innovation reveals, rather than reinvents, the identity of a model. Fujiwara clarifies his approach: ’Every detail had to earn its place. Nothing was added without reason.” A philosophy that infuses every millimetre of this new creation.

La silhouette de la TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment présente un rehaut incurvé, un rehaut extérieur blanc contrastant et un cadran noir sur noir, le tout ponctué d’un indicateur de date personnalisé.

A contemporary reinterpretation of the Carrera: design, mechanics and finishes

Created in 1963 under the impetus of Jack Heuer, the Carrera has long served as a benchmark for drivers seeking legibility and precision. Today, its glassbox design gives it a contemporary new lease of life: taut lines, visual depth and bold contrasts.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition embraces the codes of TAG Heuer Carrera glassbox chronographs

It was precisely this playground that appealed to Fujiwara. In this limited edition, the watchmaker and fragment revisit the glassbox chronograph. The 39 mm diameter case plays on contrasts: black opaline dial, domed sapphire crystal, curved white flange, and silver markings.

Visible on the reverse side through a sapphire crystal case back, the automatic manufacture calibre offers a comfortable power reserve of 80 hours and a 5-year guarantee.

The subtly integrated fragment logo replaces the numbers 1 and 11 on the date window at 12 o’clock, a direct nod to the Japanese brand’s iconic lightning bolt. The rhodium-plated chronograph hands and the redesigned light grey tachymeter scale complete this masterful graphic display. Recently reintroduced into the collection, the legendary seven-row rice grain bracelet is reinvented here with black PVD treatment on the central links, reinforcing Fujiwara’s contrasting signature.

The seven-row steel bracelet with black centre links is fitted with a folding clasp with safety push buttons.

On the mechanical side, the movement is equally refined. The watch is powered by the TH20-00 manufacture calibre, featuring 80 hours of power reserve, bidirectional automatic winding, a column wheel, a vertical clutch and a 5-year warranty. It features a coat of arms-shaped oscillating weight, decorated with a black fragment motif and visible through the screw-down sapphire crystal case back — which also discreetly features an engraving of the ‘crown of victory’, a tribute to TAG Heuer’s motor racing tradition, which this year also became the official timekeeper of Formula 1.

A laurel wreath is engraved on the case back, a reference to victory and the golden age of Formula 1, for which TAG Heuer became the official timekeeper this year.

The experience extends to the presentation box, designed to echo the watch’s design: black and white contrast, embossed logos, and a matching pouch to complete this shared aesthetic universe.

Limited to 500 numbered pieces, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition is already shaping up to be a future collector’s item: a cutting-edge collaboration between a pillar of Swiss watchmaking and one of the most influential voices in contemporary Japanese design. We love it.
