DESCRIPTION

  • Masterful black versus pristine white

    Admiral’s Cup Challenger 44 Chrono Split-Second & Admiral’s Cup Challenger 44 Chrono

In the year Corum is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its iconic Admiral’s Cup model and reinforcing its presence in the sailing world – with back-to-back announcements of two new partnerships – it naturally reinforces its sports collection by introducing two timepieces with a 44 mm-diameter profile.

These models have been treated to a gentler look, including a bezel with softer angles, a slimmer case and redesigned lines. The transparent case-back reveals the caliber in all its beauty. Available in white or black versions, the dial is framed by an inner bezel ring featuring 12 monochrome nautical  pennants. The aesthetic of the collection has been revisited, both in terms of the contours of the watch and of its colors, which now play on the rivalry between masterful black and pristine white.

Keen to offer products with strong watchmaking content and an ideal match between the size of the case and that of the movement, CORUM has equipped its Admiral’s Cup 44mm models with 13 ¼’’’  movements chronometer-certified by the COSC, a guarantee of reliability and precision.  Loyal to a reputation based on the exclusive nature of its creations, CORUM presents these two  models in limited editions or confidential production runs.

Admiral’s Cup Challenger 44 Chrono Split-Second – subtle black and white

The Admiral’s Cup Challenger 44 Chrono Split-Second plays with monochrome style in black and white versions, with only the red-lacquered split-seconds and small seconds hands standing out from the rest and ensuring perfect readability. Regatta enthusiasts can easily keep track of the competition in  progress and the race route using successive readings, whereas the competing rivals can measure split times thanks to the split-second function activated by a pusher located between 8 and 9  o’clock.

First launched in 2008, the Caliber CO986 powering the Admiral’s Cup Challenger 44 Chrono Split-Second has amply proven its worth and is now one of the star models in the collection. Chronometer-certified by  the COSC, it beats at the cadence of 28,800 vibrations per hour and is endowed with a 42-hour power reserve.

The black or white dial displays three counters enhanced by an appliqué: minutes at 3 o’clock, hours at 6 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock. The two variations feature the Admiral Cup collection’s characteristic twelve-sided case with a subtly different finish. Both measure 44mm in diameter, and  the one with the white dial carries a black PVD treatment achieved using cutting-edge processes resulting in an exceptionally hard 1,300 Vickers coating; while the black-dial version creates a reverse color contrast with a steel-colored case topped by a black PVD-finish bezel.

Both models are fitted with black vulcanized rubber crown guards that intensify the black and white contrast created by the bezel and case.

To secure the case, CORUM has equipped it with a screw-locking transparent back fitted with a  apphire crystal enabling one to admire the intricate operation of the gear trains and the black PVD-coated oscillating weight engraved with the brand name.

The Admiral’s Cup Challenger 44 Chrono Split-Second, which is guaranteed water-resistant to 100 meters, will be issued in series of 155 for the black-dial version and 55 for the white-dial version.
