Corum 2010 – 55 years of history A celebration year…

Anniversaries are a great opportunity for a recognized watch manufacturer to express its creativity and know-how through its models. In 2010 Corum celebrates no less than two major anniversaries: 50 years of its iconic Admiral’s Cup collection and 30 years of the legendary Golden Bridge.

A jubilee which allows Corum to introduce three exceptional timepieces paying tribute to the anniversaries. The first two new models, the Ti-Bridge Tourbillon and the Golden Bridge Tourbillon with their visible baguette movements – the signature of the high horology Corum Bridges collection – are adorned with a fascinating tourbillon escapement. The third novelty signals the immersion of the sporty Admiral’s Cup into the depths of the ocean, as for the first time in its history Corum launches a model with a diver function. These exceptional and exclusive timepieces will be numbered and produced in limited editions.

Admiral’s Cup Seafender 48 Deep Dive - An icon for the ocean’s depth

Created in 1960, the Admiral’s Cup celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2010. With this eminently sporty timepiece CORUM has paid tribute to the ocean’s enthusiasts for half a century. As some of them also choose to explore the ocean’s depths, CORUM offers for the first time, the Admiral’s Cup Seafender 48 Deep Dive, a version dedicated to diving.

The case of this latest novelty in the Admiral’s Cup collection – with its twelve-sided case, typical of the collection – features an impressive diameter of 48 mm. Crafted in titanium and easily recognizable thanks to its bold design, it offers a unidirectional and rotating bezel. Other characteristic of this divers watch, the Admiral’s Cup Seafender 48 Deep Dive, include a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock, an exceptional water-resistance of 100 atmospheres – or 1000 meters – and perfect legibility in the dark thanks to the Superluminova coating on the index and hands. The model is also endowed with a decompression valve which during ascent evacuates the helium that has accumulated in the case due to the diver’s depth and long periods of time underwater. Without this ingenious system the helium’s expansion could cause the glass to explode. This valve is situated at 9.30 o’clock and indicated with an engraving of “1000M”.

This broad case houses the caliber CO947, mechanical movement with automatic winding COSC certified chronometer, offering hours, minutes, small seconds, day and date functions. For a perfect resistance to salty water, the Admiral’s Cup Seafender 48 Deep Dive is fitted with black vulcanized rubber strap titanium buckle engraved with Corum logo.

This anniversary piece, the Admiral’s Cup Seafender 48 Deep Dive, is available in a limited edition of 500 pieces, with a black PVD version available in a limited edition of 255 pieces.

In 2011, CORUM reorganized the Admiral's Cup collection in three major segments:
Admiral's Cup Legend for "Heritage" section , Admiral's Cup Challenger for "Competition" section  and Admiral's Cup Seafender for "Extreme" section.
For this purpose, the Admiral's Cup Deep Hull 48  joined  the "Extreme" section and has been renamed Admiral's Cup Seafender 48 Deep Dive.
