DESCRIPTION

  • Alpine Eagle Rhone Blue

A new dial for 36 and 41 mm models, reaffirming support for the Alpine Eagle Foundation

Chopard’s sporty Alpine Eagle collection welcomes two new models in 36 mm and 41 mm, crafted in Lucent Steel™ and featuring a ‘Rhone Blue’ dial. Inspired by the beauty of the eagle’s natural habitat, these two creations symbolise Chopard’s support of the Alpine Eagle Foundation.

The color of this dial is reminiscent of one of the most iconic rivers of the Alpine massif: the Rhone. This emblematic river begins its journey in natural blue tones in the Swiss eponymous glacier located in the heart of the canton of Valais – an environment that is home to several eagle species – before feeding the waters of Lake Geneva and eventually flowing into the Mediterranean Sea.

The radiant texture of the dial echoes the iris of an eagle, while Super‑LumiNova®‑coated hands and hour markers ensure perfect readability under all conditions.

The bezel is secured by eight indexed screws, an aesthetic and technical signature that also reinforces the watch’s 100‑meter water resistance. The integrated bracelet, composed of a wide ingot‑shaped link topped with a polished central cap, extends the sporty yet refined character of the timepiece.

At the heart of each model beats an automatic movement developed and produced in-house, with precision certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
The 41 mm version houses the Chopard 01.01‑C calibre, offering a 60‑hour power reserve, while the 36 mm version contains the Chopard 09.01‑C calibre, one of the smallest Chronometer‑certified movements, with a 42‑hour power reserve.

The movement can be admired through the open caseback. The latter carries the Alpine Eagle Foundation’s logo, indicating that a portion of the proceeds from these 36 mm and 41 mm models helps fund the Foundation’s activities in support of preserving the Alps.

The Alpine Eagle 41 Rhone Blue displays hours, minutes, seconds and date. The Alpine Eagle 36 Rhone Blue shows hours, minutes and seconds. Both embody the harmony between performance, aesthetics and artisanal heritage, making Alpine Eagle an emblematic collection fueled by the passion of the Alps, the strength of the eagle and Chopard’s watchmaking excellence.

“Through these new Alpine Eagle Rhone Blue models, we are proud to continue supporting the Alpine Eagle Foundation, whose programmes play an important role in preserving the Alps and the wildlife that inhabits them," said Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele.

    Alpine Eagle Collection

The history of Alpine Eagle is deeply linked to the Scheufele family. In 1980, a young Karl‑Friedrich Scheufele (now Co‑President of Chopard) proposed the creation of the St. Moritz watch to his father, which became Chopard’s first steel sports timepiece. Forty years later, his own son Karl‑Fritz, discreetly supported by his grandfather, encouraged him to revisit this model. The reinterpretation gave birth to the Alpine Eagle collection, a symbol of a shared vision across three generations, where innovation, nature‑inspired design and family tradition merge to create a contemporary watch rich in symbolism.

Vertically integrated throughout its entire production process, Chopard produces and assembles all components of its Alpine Eagle creations in-house, from the movement to the case, even extending to the bracelet.

The collection benefits from the expertise developed over 30 years by Chopard Manufacture in Fleurier as well as from the L.U.C collection – named after Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the Maison’s founder in 1860. Since its launch, the Alpine Eagle collection has already been enriched with several complications, most notably a chronograph movement, a flying tourbillon, and a high‑frequency movement. All these timepieces meet the highest standards of certified fine watchmaking.

    A signature design

The collection stands out with a strong design: a dial stamped with a sunburst motif reminiscent of an eagle’s iris; dial colors evoking the beauty of Alpine landscapes; a seconds hand with an eagle‑feather‑shaped counterweight; a crown engraved with a compass rose; an eight‑screw indexed bezel; an integrated bracelet combining comfort, fluidity and sporty elegance; and finally, contrasting brushed and polished finishes.

    Lucent Steel™

Made with a recycling rate of 80%, Chopard’s Lucent Steel™ results from an advanced remelting process that produces a pure material, with brilliance comparable to gold and hypoallergenic properties similar to surgical steel. Its exceptional hardness makes it particularly resistant to abrasion.

First introduced in 2019 with the launch of the Alpine Eagle collection, Lucent Steel™ has been used to produce all Chopard steel timepieces since 2023 – cases and bracelets included.

    Chronometer certification

The Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) independently certifies the precision of movements. Uncased movements undergo 15 days of testing in five positions and three temperature ranges. All L.U.C movements featuring a seconds indication are subjected to this protocol, ensuring a daily rate variation between –4 and +6 seconds per day.

    Alpine Eagle Foundation

The launch of the Alpine Eagle collection was accompanied by the creation of an eponymous Foundation. It was established by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, along with several specialists and lovers of the Alps. Its motto is "Preserving the Alps", and its projects aim to raise awareness, mobilise support, and take action on behalf of the entire Alpine region and the life it shelters. These initiatives notably include an ambitious plan to reintroduce the white‑tailed eagle around Lake Geneva, as well as a program to protect the golden eagle in the Swiss Alps. Chopard directly contributes to the funding of the Foundation by donating a portion of the profits from the sales of some Alpine Eagle creations.
