“The Blue Hour”, “Life in Blue” and what if, quite simply: blue is the new chic?
Blue is making a comeback and hasn't gone unnoticed in the watch collections presented at Watches and Wonders 2025. Proof of this is the new Chanel J12, which is causing a sensation and attracting envy. It must be said that its high-tech matte blue ceramic is incredibly desirable. And on the Monsieur with jumping hours... it's an absolute success.
CHANEL, J12 Bleu collection
Chanel unveils a new version of its iconic J12 watch: the J12 Blue, adorned for the first time in matte blue ceramic. Twenty-five years after the launch of the black J12, then the white one, this edition marks a bold turning point in the brand’s watchmaking. In a deep, matte, and unprecedented blue, this exclusive shade pays homage to a historic color of the luxury brand, already seen in its fashion collections.

J12 Bleu 12.1 38 MM
This chromatic innovation is the result of five years of development carried out at the heart of the manufacture, which masters the production of this high-tech ceramic from start to finish. Designed by Arnaud Chastaingt, Director of the Watchmaking Creation Studio, this material illustrates the Maison’s expertise and offers a unique field of expression for creation. The J12 Bleu collection, composed of nine watches, embodies the elegance of “an almost black blue or an almost blue black,” revealing its multiple facets in the light.

J12 Bleu Diamond Tourbillon

Chanel enhances the J12 BLEU collection with an exceptional piece featuring a sparkling flying tourbillon. The J12 Bleu Tourbillon Diamond Watch welcomes this queen of complications at 6 o’clock, whose hypnotic movements are magnified by a 65-facet solitaire diamond set in its center. Reflecting the blueish hue of the ceramic, this diamond was cut especially for this model, whose setting has been dubbed the “Coco setting.” Beloved by Gabrielle Chanel, the precious gem illuminates an openworked blue dial, crowned by a bezel adorned with 34 baguette-cut sapphires. A technical feat down to the smallest details: the bevels of the bracelet are hand-polished, accentuating the brilliance of the 38 mm diameter piece, limited to 55 pieces. Water-resistant to 50 meters, it beats to the rhythm of a hand-wound manufacture movement, delivering approximately 42 hours of power reserve: the Caliber 5.

Monsieur Superleggera Bleu Edition

A beautiful reinterpretation of men’s watchmaking, the Monsieur Superleggera watch is not part of the new J12 Bleu collection, but is nevertheless dressed in the same matte blue ceramic. Inspired by the aesthetic codes of motor racing, this sporty edition, water-resistant to 30 meters, combines elegance and performance. With a diameter of 42 mm, the case houses a black guilloché dial that displays two complications: an instantaneous jumping hour in a window at 6 o’clock, as well as a 240° retrograde minute, in the upper part of the dial. Powered by the Caliber 1, a hand-wound manufacture movement, this assembly takes on the design of speedometers. Ultra-efficient, it is also equipped with two barrels with a gem-set flange, which offer a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. In another nod to the world of sports cars, the strap is made of nylon lined with very trendy calfskin.

MONTBLANC
1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen Mount Vinson Limited Edition

Montblanc unveils the 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen Mount Vinson Limited Edition, a watch that pays tribute to Reinhold Messner, legendary mountaineer and brand ambassador, famous for having conquered the Seven Summits challenge (corresponding to the seven highest peaks), including Mount Vinson in Antarctica. Released in a limited edition of 986 pieces in homage to his 1986 ascent, this timepiece embodies the spirit of exploration. Its 43.5 mm titanium case incorporates a composite material evoking ancient glaciers: quartz fibers, basalt-aluminum fibers, CaCO₃, and a light blue resin.

The spectacle is at the rendezvous on the case, which displays the luminescent silhouette of Mount Vinson. The glacier dial, created using the scraped-wood technique, reflects depth and luminosity, complemented by an anodized aluminum bezel. Equipped with “Zero Oxygen” technology, the watch prevents fogging and oxidation, ensuring durability and precision. It incorporates a world time complication powered by the automatic caliber with approximately 42 hours of power reserve, with rotating globes of the hemispheres, day/night indicator, date and second time zone.

On the back, a 3D engraving of Mount Vinson, created using laser oxidation for a striking effect, enhances the caseback. This edition is presented on a new interchangeable blue-green rubber strap, adorned with patterns reminiscent of a mountaineering rope. The inside of the strap features a profile view of the mountains.

1858 Geosphere Annual Calendar Limited Edition

Montblanc unveils the 1858 Geosphere Annual Calendar Limited Edition, powered by the new hand-wound Minerva movement. This exclusive caliber offers a 65-hour power reserve and displays hours, minutes, seconds, date, month, and world time, with an annual calendar. The sapphire crystal case back showcases the handcrafted finishes, including “Côtes de Genève” and a snail motif.

On this version in satin-finished and polished steel, the grained and slightly satin-finished dial in the center houses a large date in a window at 12 o’clock, which is adjusted using a corrector located at 2 o’clock on the case middle. The months are indicated around the dial edge by a red arrow, a nod to Minerva, goddess of craftsmanship and emblem of the brand. In homage to her history, the month of July is replaced by “Minerva,” recalling July 30, 1887, the date the trademark was filed.

At 6 o’clock, a hand-painted, three-dimensional rotating sapphire crystal globe representing the Northern Hemisphere (Southern Hemisphere on request) illustrates the day/night function. The Greenwich Meridian is indicated by an orange line on the globe, with a 24-hour graduation. In addition, the 42 mm case has a fluted bezel inspired by the Minerva models of the 1920s, but combining the design of timepieces from the 1950s.
