The Pink Panther strikes again
Some watches measure time. Others tell a story. With this Seiko 5 Sports Limited Edition Pink Panther, the Japanese manufacturer has called upon one of pop culture's most iconic characters to repaint watchmaking... in pink, of course.

Born in 1963 from the mischievously minimalist pen of Friz Freleng and carried by Henry Mancini’s jazzy theme tune, the Pink Panther has established itself as an icon of absurd elegance. With its slender silhouette, silent humour and keen sense of gentle provocation, all of its DNA is captured here, condensed into a 38 mm diameter steel case.
Life in pink, exactly
The inspiration comes directly from The Pink Phink (1964), the first short film in the series, in which the Panther stubbornly repaints the Little Man’s house pink, defying all logic… and numerous ‘WET PAINT’ signs.

The dial features this vivid colour, as if freshly painted, while the black bezel punctuated with pink markings creates an effective graphic contrast. The second hand matches the subtle imprints on the dial, reminiscent of the feline’s hushed footsteps, always ready to disappear before being seen.

The nod to the cartoon continues on the wrist with a pink nylon strap, decorated with footprints and the famous ‘WET PAINT’ slogan, taken directly from the cartoon. Even the typography on the bezel echoes the spirit of the original animation, like silent credits rolling with each rotation: ‘tinlin tinlin tinlin tinlin tinlinnn tinlinlinlin…’ Could be better, I admit!

On the reverse, the transparent case back reveals an iconic scene: the Pink Panther pressed against a freshly painted wall, only her eyes piercing the monochrome. An additional playful detail is hidden on the crown, engraved with a pink diamond – a tribute to the diamond from the investigation by Parisian Inspector Jacques Clouseau.

Powered by the reliable and proven 4R36 automatic caliber, this limited edition of 9,999 pieces combines horological precision with a light and airy feel. Presented in an exclusive box shaped like a small pink house, it perfectly embodies the fusion of cartoon culture and Japanese craftsmanship.
A watch that does more than just tell the time, but reminds us that a little irreverence — and a lot of pink — never hurt the passage of time.
