Buci’s New Collection: Writing Time Differently
With "Nouvelle", Its second collection Buci continues the dialogue between literature and watchmaking by celebrating the fleeting moments that make up our days. The young French brand is poised to write a new chapter alongside the public, having launched its latest models on September 25th via an international Kickstarter pre-order campaign that runs until November 15th.
There are unforgettable moments moments we anticipate, prepare for, and sometimes capture in photographs. And then there are all the others: a shared coffee, a few lines scribbled in a notebook, a phrase overheard during a subway conversation, a fit of infectious laughter, an unexpected encounter. These are seemingly ordinary instants that, when pieced together, tell the story of a life of life itself. It is precisely these fleeting moments that inspired Buci’s second collection. Following the 2022 launch of Garde-temps, the brand opens a new chapter with Nouvelle a gentle nod to the literary form of the same name.
Buci: Time as a Story
For Buci, the connection between literature and watchmaking is more than just a catchy phrase. Since its founding by Nousseïma Baraket, the brand has cultivated the concept of “poetizing time,” turning each collection into a new way of writing the time.
These models, which open this new chapter, serve as a perfect illustration.
The luminous “Essentiel” version draws inspiration from antique paper, while “Contemplation” evokes the silent hours of the night with its navy blue hues. Four interchangeable straps in cream or blue grained calfskin, brown smooth leather, and grey nubuck are available, allowing you to change the tone without changing the story.
When design takes up the pen
One need only look at the watch to understand how Buci translates the act of writing from paper to wrist. Ultimately, no detail is merely a detail, for nothing is left to chance. At the top of every hour, the hour and minute hands align to reveal the silhouette of a pen nib. Beneath their tips, the textured dial evokes blotting paper. The numerals, too, merit attention for more than one reason.
Drawn by the hand of a Parisian calligrapher, they are distinguished by their irregular, half-moon proportions as if each hour possessed its own rhythm.
The oval, concave bezel already a signature of early Buci creations gains in presence and flows naturally into the lugs. Meanwhile, the gadrooned case band evokes the spines of books and the edges of their pages.
With a diameter of 36 mm and a thickness of 9.88 mm, the polished and satin-finished 316L steel case boasts a slender, balanced profile. A domed, recessed sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the transparent case back reveals the manual-winding Sellita SW219-1 movement. The caliber features 23 jewels, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and offers a 42-hour power-reserve.

And since every story deserves a fitting setting, Nouvelle arrives in a book-inspired case, accompanied by a booklet where its owner can write down and capture their own moments.
The collection is offered as a limited edition of 300 numbered pieces. Pre-orders are open until November 15, 2026, via an international Kickstarter campaign, with delivery scheduled for May 2027. The launch price is set at € 1,550 (incl. tax), compared to a retail price of € 1,850 (incl. tax).
