DEDICATED TO PRECISION
This year, Lange’s keynote topic is precision. The moon-phase display of the GRAND LANGE 1 MOON PHASE, manufactured with a patented coating process, reproduces the period from new moon to new moon with an accuracy of 99.9978 per cent. Once correctly set, and assuming that the watch runs continuously, the display would only have to be corrected by one day every 122.6 years. Even greater precision is achieved by the moonphase display of the RICHARD LANGE PERPETUAL CALENDAR “Terraluna”, which for the first time in a Lange watch is integrated on the movement side. The display consists of three discs. Visible through a round aperture in the star-studded celestial disc, the moon orbits around the earth anti-clockwise. The mechanism reproduces the synodic month of 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 3 seconds so precisely that it takes 1.058 years before the display needs to be corrected by one day. The two strong mainsprings in the twin barrel of this watch deliver a power reserve of 14 days, and a constant-force escapement keeps its rate accuracy stable for the entire period. The new 1815 TOURBILLON is designed for superior precision as well. It combines Lange’s proprietary stop-seconds mechanism for the tourbillon with the ZERO-RESET handsetting device, which is also patented. This combination assures that the watch can be accurately set.
Additionally, A. Lange & Söhne is introducing pink-gold versions of the LANGE ZEITWERK STRIKING TIME first presented in 2011 and of the LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUALCALENDAR launched a year later. The collection is rounded off with two jewellery versions of the SAXONIA in diamond-set white-gold cases with white or brown motherof-pearl dials and matching crocodile straps.
