Don Vito Crowned King of the Skies at Reno

Swiss watch manufacturer Oris is delighted to congratulate Don Vito Wypraechtiger on his Gold Race first place in the 2013 Reno Air Races. The captain of the Swiss Air Racing Team flew into first place in his Formula 1 class Scarlett Screamer airplane, which rocketed around Reno’s complicated course at a mindblowing average speed of 240 mph.
A 200,000 strong crowd turned up to watch him vie for the trophy with last year’s winner and his main competitor, Steve Senegal. An astonishing display in the air and quick thinking tactics meant Don Vito crowned the first ever non-American winner of the legendary Reno Air Races.
Ulrich Herzog, Executive Chairman of Oris, commented: “We are incredibly proud of Don Vito Wypraechtiger and the Swiss Air Racing Team’s achievement at the 50th Reno Air Races. The dedication, passion and skills that Don Vito applies both in and out of the air is inspirational.”
Don Vito’s dazzling airborne skills were also the inspiration for the new Oris Air Racing Edition III, incorporating the crucial design elements required by racing pilots whilst competing. Limited to only 1,000 pieces, the Oris Air Racing Edition III is not only the perfect timepiece for VFR pilots, but also a must have for those with their heart set on conquering the sky.
