RAFAEL NADAL VICTORIOUS AT US OPEN WITH THE RM 027 OF RICHARD MILLE
Rafael Nadal won his ninth Grand Slam title, beating Novak Djokovic on court at Flushing Meadows in the final of the US Open, the only title which still eluded him.
At just 24 years old, the Majorcan’s record-breaking run continued as he became the youngest player of the Open Era to win all four Grand Slam tournaments.
For the third time in a row, he held the winner’s trophy aloft with his Richard Mille on his wrist.
An ultimate watch, an extravagance, entirely in keeping with the great champion who wears it. The RM 027 Tourbillon boasts a few achievements of its own: the lightest mechanical watch ever designed and the first watch to be worn by a player in a Grand Slam. Once again Richard Mille has created a watch which represents the ultimate in luxury but is also light, extremely shock resistant and truly comfortable on the wrist, all values integral to the Richard Mille concept.
The brand also took a deliberate risk in putting the watch to the ultimate test of a top-level tennis match. Everything in this watch is a feat, a technological accomplishment… And nothing has been left to chance. Years have been spent in research, and the use of innovative materials such as LITAL® for the moving parts and a carbon-based composite for the casing have resulted in a mechanical tourbillon watch weighing approximately 20 grams, strap included. Months of experimenting and countless tests on the arm of Rafael Nadal, who fully participated in designing and developing the model, were necessary to refine and perfect this ultra-technical model which can withstand the most violent of blows.
After Roland Garros and Wimbledon, Rafa has triumphed at the US Open and chalked up another victory with his RM 027 on his wrist.
