The new Breitling flagship, Rive Gauche

The new Breitling boutique was designed according to the watchmaking Maison’s aesthetic identity.

The new Breitling boutique nestles at 51, rue de Rennes in Paris 6th arrondissement, at the heart of the very chic Saint-Germain-des-Prés quarter. This particularly retro Parisian flagship opened last December in collaboration with Jean Lassaussois. It welcomes all unconditional Piaget fans in a space designed according to the Maison’s signature aesthetic identity. Clients will find a selection of watches from the most iconic collections of the Maison. They can also customise their Breitling watch, for example by changing the strap. Elegant leather strap, sporty rubber strap or Econyl eco-friendly textile strap: the choice is yours.

A timely visit

Frank Sans C had the honour of meeting CEO of Breitling Georges Kern while he was in Paris. He had the opportunity to discuss the opening of the boutique – a strategic place for the Maison at the heart of the dynamic and artistic centre of the capital – but also to discover a few watches with striking, new designs.

Chronomat B01 42 Six Nations

Breitling has joined the scrum: for the second time, the Maison is the official timekeeper of the Rugby Six Nations Championship, which began this February 4th. For the occasion, they introduced six versions of the Chronomat B01 42 Six Nations dedicated to the six competing countries: England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, France and Italy.

The Chronomat B01 42 Six Nations France, biggest French team supporter.
Breitling, the official timekeeper of the Six Nations Championship, added French rugby player Gaël Fickou to their French ambassador team.

These 42-mm watches in steel were produced in a limited edition of 150 pieces each, with 200-m water resistance. Breitling used their entire watchmaking expertise to create these COSC-certified chronometers, powered by a high-flying manufacture calibre of a 70-hour power reserve. Each variation displays the colours of the team it represents.

The several variations all display different dials with their respective team colours. The team logo is also displayed inside the 9 o’clock counter and on the sapphire crystal caseback.

At the back, the sapphire crystal caseback displays the team logo. Here, you can see the French version, with the iconic rooster. Nice try scored by the Maison with this spot-on high-performance, precise sports watch.

Breitling Super Chronomat Automatic 38 Origins

A “traceable” watch

“Breitling is on a mission to create beautiful products and experiences with better materials and better manufacturing. Our roadmap begins here with the proof-of-concept Super Chronomat Origins.”

Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling.
The Super Chronomat Automatic 38 Origins was crafted with the best, responsibly sourced gold and diamonds.

With their goal to make luxury more sustainable in mind, Breitling introduced their first “traceable” watch. The Super Chronomat Automatic 38 is a women’s watch in red gold. The gold that was used is traceable to mines accredited by the Swiss Better Gold Association. This organisation is on a mission to improve the life and working conditions of mine workers, and receives support by the Maison through a serious commitment. For every gram of gold purchased, Breitling makes a contribution that supports local community development projects resulting in modernised infrastructures, legal wages, protection of biodiversity, land rehabilitation, etc.

In Colombia, the Touchstone gold mine was accredited by the Swiss Better Gold Association.

Same goes for the very precious and extremely pure synthetic diamonds of the bezel. Since they are identical to natural diamonds, they must undergo strict quality assurance. Breitling’s supplier is Fenix Diamonds, which provides all precious stones certified by the SCS-007, an ethical environmental responsibility norm with nothing left to prove. The Maison also keeps a provenance record for the gold and diamonds of each watch. The supply chain – from raw material to finished product – is documented with proof of ownership in a blockchain-backed NFT. Which makes each model even more unique.

Breitling has also announced that by 2025, all watches in their collections will be crafted from entirely traceable gold and diamonds.

A bold design

The super Chronomat Automatic 38 Origins displays a distinctive set bezel with white ceramic staples.

This automatic model, with an ideal 38-mm diameter, displays both a chic and sporty look. Its diamond-set bezel with ceramic staples mark each quarter-hour and perfectly match the white Rouleaux rubber strap. In terms of mechanics, the watch answers all technical specifications of Breitling watches. It is certified as a chronometer by the very strict COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute), water-resistant up to 100 metres and equipped with an approx. 38-hour power reserve. Still, the closed caseback leaves room for regret as it only lets us imagine the calibre.

Price: €19,400

Breitling Premier B25 Datora 42

The Premier Heritage collection, inspired by the creative universe of the Breitling founders, welcomes two new models: the Premier B25 Datora 42 watches.

The unapologetically elegant Premier B25 Datora 42 has joined the Premier Heritage collection, which pays tribute to founders of the Maison Léon Breitling, his son Gaston and his grandson Léon Willy. This 42-mm-diameter watch is available in two variations: one in steel and the other in red gold.

The steel and copper dial variation and the red gold and cream dial variation of the Premier Heritage Datora.

These two attractive watches house an impressive COSC-certified automatic manufacture calibre which powers the day, date, month and moon phases (at 6 o’clock). These functions are displayed on a cream or copper dial which adds to the vintage design of the piece.

The Premier Heritage Datora displays a distinctive, full-on retro design.

The brown, leather bracelet delivered with the watch also plays into its retro design. Special mention for the movement, which was meticulously decorated with a “Côtes-de-Genève” finish and equipped with a gold oscillating weight in slight openwork.

The COSC-certified manufacture calibre of the Premier Heritage Datora is meticulously decorated and visible through the sapphire crystal.

In red gold – cream dial: €22,750
