DESCRIPTION

  • Dandy Edition Métronome

Already appreciated by connoisseurs for the perfect harmony of its forms, this year the Dandy watch is being equipped with an original and graphic complication, the one metronomic second, which is bound to satisfy admirers of superior watchmaking mechanics and of music.

In this new version, the small second hand moves from right to left, in a trapeze-shaped window in the dial, with the same pendulum movement as a metronome.

100 models of the Dandy Metronome Edition have been created, in tribute of Frédéric Chopin, whose 200th anniversary is celebrated this year. It was at number 12, place Vendôme, now Chaumet’s Salons, that this musical genius composed his last Mazurka in 1849.

This version, which takes up the codes of the Dandy, plays with three colours to evoke the unique tone of Chopin’s music. While the “ivory” white and “onyx” black that decorate the dial and strap suggest piano keys, the blue used for the second hand is Chaumet’s historical colour and refers to the composer’s exaggerated sensitivity, the “blue note”.

Loyal to the custom of working with renowned watchmakers, the movement of the Dandy Metronome Edition was created with Jean-Marc Wiederrecht. This brilliant Swiss watchmaker creates subtle complications to give particular tessitura to time. The highly sophisticated mechanics of this complication are partially visible thanks to skilfully positioned openings in the dial and the back of the instrument. Admirers will discover a set of wheels, the main one of which has a lyre-shaped cut-out in the middle. Its timed rotation animates the back of the window and adds value to the unique mechanism, which gives the impression of a metronome swinging back and forth.

This elegant white gold watch with visual complication that brings to mind a chief art has been released in 100 numbered copies. It comes with a second black alligator strap with a white gold buckle.
