The iconic simplicity of the Panerai style is given a new interpretation in the Luminor Base – 44mm, a Special Edition of 2,000 units, available exclusively in Offcine Panerai boutiques throughout the world.
The design of the new Luminor Base – 44mm proclaims the inherent qualities of the Panerai brand. The Luminor case in polished AISI 316L stainless steel is 44mm in diameter and it is ftted with the brushed steel lever device which protects the winding crown from shocks and accidental movement as well as helping to ensure the water-resistance of the crown to 30 atmospheres (about 300 metres). The brown dial is notable for its extreme clarity with its traditional alternation of hour markers and large numerals at the cardinal points, all of ecru Super-LumiNova®.
A historic fact of great interest is revived in the centre of the steel screw back, which bears the engraving of a “Siluro a Lenta Corsa” or Slow-Speed Torpedo, the underwater transport used by the frogmen of the Italian Navy in the 1930s and 1940s when carrying out their legendary exploits, wearing Panerai instruments on their wrists.
The hand-wound mechanical movement of the new Luminor Base – 44mm (PAM00390) is the Panerai OP I calibre, with a diameter of 161⁄2 lignes, 17 jewels, a balance wheel oscillating at a frequency of 21,600 alternations per hour and a power reserve of 56 hours.
