It all started in 1962 when Jack Heuer, who was serving as timekeeper in the Twelve Hours of Sebring, met two young and talented drivers, the Rodriguez brothers. They told him about a legendary race: the Carrera Panamericana Mexico Road Race. He was immediately struck by the name Carrera, which in his words, was “dynamic, elegant, easily pronounced in all languages and charged with emotion."
In 1964, he launched the first timepiece to carry the Carrera name. Since then, it has enjoyed timeless popularity and is now one of TAG Heuer most iconic and best selling series.

The goal was not to substitute the iconic Carrera, but to expand it into new watchmaking territories and technologies, bringing it more in line with contemporary motor-racing styling and performance in general, and GT cars in particular.
