Heir to 1950s elegance

Tapping into the aesthetic of the first timepieces created by Michel Herbelin in the last century, Inspiration Self-Winding is housed in a polished stainless steel case (40 mm) with rounded contours that extend into clean-lined lugs. The piece is accented with a ribbed, ball-shaped crown set with a black onyx. A slightly curved dial sits beneath a domed sapphire.

The three hands - hours, minutes and seconds in finely curved dagger shapes - are deployed against a deep green backdrop decorated with a brushed sunray pattern that reveals multiple nuances in the light. A trifle non-conformist in its colour, it tells the time accurately thanks to the clear layout of the minute track with silvered applique hour markers. Complemented with a discreet date aperture at 6 o’clock, the ensemble plainly marks the passage of time.

The appeal of a self-winding mechanical movement

French brand Michel Herbelin has chosen to power its latest vintage with a Swiss-made Sellita self-winding mechanical movement. This robust and reliable calibre, set with 26 jewels, oscillates at 28,000 vibrations per hour, and boasts a 38-hour power reserve. The movement is finished to an exacting level of detail; the Côtes de Genève pattern of the oscillating mass engraved “Michel Herbelin” can be admired through the transparent caseback.
