A TIMEPIECE BORN FROM MYTH
Hamilton partners with Christopher Nolan to create a timepiece shaped by The Odyssey.
As the watchmaker of filmmakers, Hamilton has built a singular relationship with cinema by integrating timepieces into storytelling in three distinct ways: placing existing watches on screen, creating custom designs for films and developing story-driven timepieces inspired by cinematic worlds. Thanks to its long-standing ties with Hollywood, only Hamilton could realize a collaboration of this depth with a filmmaker of Christopher Nolan’s stature.
Hamilton and Christopher Nolan reunite following previous collaborations on Interstellar (2014), Tenet (2020) and Oppenheimer (2023). This time, the partnership takes a new form. Inspired by Nolan’s new mythic action epic from Universal Pictures, The Odyssey, in cinemas July 17, 2026, the watch is not worn on screen but designed in collaboration with Nolan as a tribute to the story itself.
Set in a world that predates mechanical timekeeping, The Odysseypresented a unique creative challenge. Nolan worked with Hamilton to imagine a timepiece informed by the epic story’s symbols, materials and mythology. The result is a highly limited creation that translates narrative into design.
The primary inspirations come from the helmet and sword of the film’s central hero, Odysseus. Both objects inform the dial and the case back. Bronze was chosen as the defining material, reflecting the weapons and armor of the film’s time period, the Bronze Age, and reinforcing the connection to ancient craftsmanship.
The black brushed dial features a bronze pattern drawn from the helmet’s texture while the 12 o’clock index references a rivet found on the sword’s scabbard. Sword-shaped hands in bronze color echo Odysseus’ blade.
The 42mm bronze case is based on the Khaki Field Automatic and features a circular finish. A brown grained leather strap with a striking central stitching completes the design. Rendered in titanium for comfort and durability, the case back depicts Odysseus’ helmet alongside Christopher Nolan’s signature.
Included with the watch is a replica of the goddess Athena’s pin, gifted to Odysseus by his wife Penelope and worn by him in the film as a talisman. Designed to be worn as a brooch, it offers owners a tangible piece of movie magic. The packaging follows a black and bronze palette with a round metallic shield symbol, commemorative plaque and the pin housed inside.
Limited to 2,112 pieces, the edition draws meaning from Greek mythology where 12 is a very important number and it is widely used in Homer’s Odyssey: the poem has 12,000 lines; 12 ships were sent to Troy, and Odysseus has to shoot an arrow through 12 axe heads to prove his identity.
With this collaboration, Hamilton continues to expand its intimate and collaborative relationship with filmmaking. The Odysseytimepiece stands as a rare intersection of myth, cinema and watchmaking, created for collectors who value craft as much as story.
