A TRIBUTE TO HAMILTON’S AMERICAN ROOTS
Introducing the Khaki Field Mechanical 36mm inspired by the unique and rare FAPD 5101.
The Khaki Field Mechanical 36mm brings a historic Hamilton design to collectors around the globe. The watch focuses on authenticity and craftsmanship through a faithful revival of one of Hamilton’s rarest vintage military references.
The design draws directly from the FAPD 5101 navigator’s watch issued to U.S. Air Force navigators around 1970. Produced for only a short period, the watch featured a larger-than-usual 36mm parkerized case and the Hamilton caliber 684, a manually wound movement developed specifically for the model and never used elsewhere.
Built for reliability in demanding environments, the original watch incorporated fixed bars, an acrylic crystal and an anti-magnetic dust cover protecting the movement. These elements contributed to the watch’s durability and have become defining characteristics of the reference.
The Khaki Field Mechanical 36mm faithfully preserves many of these details. The 36mm matte case echoes the proportions of the original watch, while fixed bars and an acrylic box-shaped crystal recreate its distinctive construction. A dust cover remains part of the design, linking the new watch directly to the architecture of the vintage model.
Modern improvements ensure durability for contemporary wear. Super-LumiNova® Grade X2 delivers a warm vintage glow with modern performance, while water resistance is increased to 10 bar.
The watch is part of Hamilton’s broader celebration of American heritage, craftsmanship and the enduring appeal of the Khaki Field line. It will be produced exclusively during the year 2026, a nod to the 250th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the U.S.A., Hamilton’s birth country. .
