Beijing, 3 August 2011 – For the first time in his career, NBA Champion, NBA Finals MVP, Olympic Gold Medalist and seven-time NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade comes to China to the Forbidden City in Beijing to meet “The One Million RMB Basketball Charity Challenge”. The challenge for Dwyane Wade is to score a maximum number of baskets, each corresponding to a sum of money ($50K, $100K etc.) and on an increasing scale of difficulty and winnings. The funds collected by his shots will be donated to the leading non-profit organization One Foundation on behalf of Hublot and Wade’s World Foundation. Wade launched the Wade’s World Foundation in 2005 to provide support to various educational, health and family service programs, in particular those that benefit underserved communities. Founded in 2006 by Beijing-born and International Hublot Ambassador Jet Li, One Foundation’s mission is to promote a culture of broad-based participation in philanthropy and giving.
The One Million RMB Challenge is Hublot’s first international event linked with basketball. The choice of venue in Beijing marks the brand’s social responsibility commitment to China. Wade who is a pioneering fund raiser for children’s charities, joins forces with Hublot to support the Children aid program in China. During his stay in China, Wade reinforced his strong ties with Hublot with a visit to the Hublot Boutique in Beijing’s Wangfujing Street, New Oriental Plaza. He also attended a gala dinner with over 100 VIP guests on the terrace at the Forbidden City.

This watch, a limited edition of only 500 pieces, is in many aspects inspired by Wade’s career and the world of basketball: the prominent “3” representing Dwyane’s number on the court, the “basketball effect” of the watch face, the strap’s stitching which evokes a basketball net, and the inclusion of the new Dwyane Wade logo. In addition, Hublot’s own fusion DNA finds its special expression in new and interesting ways in this timepiece: titanium, ceramic, tungsten, rhodium plating and composite elements.
