True to the brand’s seafaring origins, the self-winding day- date Newport contemporises the hallmarks for which the Newport is known and loved – the strap's central lugs, the porthole-style bezel and the ship's wheel stamped on the crown.

Inspired by the streamlined architecture of stealth ships, the stainless steel case coated with anthracite grey PVDmeasures 42 mm. Polished and brushed to accentuate its three-faceted cut, it features a conical crown, which is notched for optimal grip. The circular-brushed bezel matches the dial and is engraved with the name of thecollection. It is punctuated by ve screws modelled on thekeys of sailboat winches.

Protected by a sapphire crystal, the sunray dial reveals a subtle dégradé effect caseback that gradually turns from deepest black at the outside to an intense blue in the centre. The highly precise minutes scale that rings theblack ange keeps track of the time, while the tapered andfaceted hour markers – reminiscent of a boat's hull – are skimmed by rhodium-plated steel hands specially createdfor the French brand. The hands are partially nishedwith a white luminescent coating, like the imposing hour markers, ensuring optimal readability. Alongside a central seconds hand, the piece has a double aperture at 3 o’clock, displaying the day and date in white on black.

Suitable for everyday use, this latest piece by Michel Herbelin has been designed to help the wearer go from work to workout with ease. Water-resistant to 100 metres, it is paired with a black strap in high-performance FKM elastomer and features a deployant clasp with steel securing buckle. Speci cally designed to t the contours of the watch and guaranteed for 10 years, it adds the nal sporty touch to this sleek-looking timepiece.

LONG-TERM RELIABILITY

The self-winding day-date Newport is powered by a Swiss-made (Sellita) self-winding movement, guaranteeing accuracy andreliability. Beating at 28,000 vibrations per hour and incorporating 26 jewels, it has a 38-hour power reserve. The rhodium-platedoscillating weight with Herbelin engraving can be admired through the transparent caseback. The added advantage of this movement? It is charged using your wrist movements (no battery). Obvious to some, but useful to explain for more recent converts to traditional watchmaking, this comes in response to the goal of creating a repairable and enduring timepiece (no planned obsolescence) that could be handed down...

Respectful of ancestral French watchmaking tradition passed down from father to son for some 75 years, the self-winding day/date Newport from Michel Herbelin has been designed with this in mind.

It is designated Made in France due to having been designed, engineered, assembled, adjusted and inspected at the MichelHerbelin studios in the Jura mountains of the Franche-Comté region. You can also be assured of the high level of technical requirements that are characteristic of quality watchmaking.
