In the wake of the first Tachometer Automatic Chronograph launched in 2011, Louis Vuitton is continuing to explore the automobile world with the new Tambour Voyagez II.
Automobile performance has always been linked to calculating speed. And the value of a car journey is often measured in terms of time. True to the Louis Vuitton tradition, the second edition of the “TACHOMETER” Tambour Automatic Chronograph offers a genuine invitation to travel.
The “TACHOMETER” Tambour Automatic Chronograph’s sporty yet sophisticated character can be seen in its grey dial – vintage and contemporary in one – inspired by the dashboards of race cars from the seventies and set off with elegant touches of black, grey and red, along with its small second counter positioned at 3 o’clock.
The technical markings immediately transport us to the world of car races. This is where the aesthetic and technical heart of the “TACHOMETER” Tambour Automatic Chronograph is found, with a small red central hand representing the chronograph’s minute totaliser and, above all, a triple circular tachometric scale allowing you to accurately measure the average speed travelled over a kilometre.
It is easy to operate: simply activate the chronograph’s central hand over a distance of a kilometre. Once stopped, it will indicate on the tachometric scale the average speed at which this kilometre was covered. However, ordinary tachometric scales do not allow you to calculate average speeds below 60 km/hr. As if to slow down time and take better advantage of it, Louis Vuitton has created a triple circulartachometric scale making it possible to measure lower speeds up to 20 km/hr.
Powered by the LV 168 automatic calibre manufactured in the Dubois-Dépraz Swiss workshops, the “TACHOMETER” Tambour Automatic Chronograph offers a power reserve of 42 hours and features a date window subtly positioned at 6 o’clock.
A professional instrument produced in a limited, numbered edition of 888 pieces, which is housed in the famous Tambour 44 mm-diameter steel case.
Equipped with a rubber-overmolded winding crown for optimal ergonomics, the “TACHOMETER” Tambour Automatic Chronograph is mounted on a perforated calfskin strap, evoking the steering wheel covers of sports cars, with a red calfskin lining.
This new model will also be available in pink gold, in limited edition of 88 pieces.
