    THE MAISON BOUCHERON
THE HISTORY OF LUXURY & TIMELESSNESS

The first jeweler on Place Vendôme, the Maison opened its doors in Paris under the arches of the Palais Royal in 1858. From the very beginning, Frédéric Boucheron set the tone: this international adventurer traveled to mines all over the world in order to acquire the very finest stones. He was a forerunner in terms of style and technique, and his inventions soon won prizes at the World’s Fairs; he was a man on a continual quest for excellence. For him, every jewel was a work of art and every watch should be a jewel.

True to this spirit of distinction, guided by the search for elegance and modernity, Boucheron has established a reputation for more than 150 years as the jeweler of light in the “City of Light”.
Today, it is the only jewelry Maison whose workshops still overlook the famous Place.
None other has succeeded in winning the favor of both royalty and that of clients with more audacious and carefree tastes.

Boucheron is known and renowned for the quality of its stones and the painstaking care and attention it lavishes on highlighting them, for passing on its savoir-faire from generation to generation, for its ongoing quest for innovation with the best craftsmen of its age, and for the technical prowess of its jewels and timepieces.

    BOUCHERON WATCHMAKING CREATIVITY IN 2012

From 1859, Boucheron watches have been distinguished by their esthetics as much as by their ingenuity. Like all Boucheron creations, they tell a story and arouse emotion. This quest for elegance, modernity and excellence continues in 2012, with the exceptional new pieces AJOUREE, CRAZY JUNGLE HATHI, HIBISCUS TOURBILLON and CYPRIS TOURBILLON WITH THREE GOLD BRIDGES.

Inspired by fabulous bestiary and other symbols dear to Boucheron, each timepiece is designed like a jewelry creation, the work of a true craftsman to sculpt movement, create light and give life to dreamlike or playful piece... in short: a new gem in the extraordinary collection of watches from Boucheron.

In addition to the codes of the Maison, such as variations in volume, rounded lines, or stone setting of a unique quality, Boucheron skillfully and harmoniously combines its savoir-faire with that of the best watchmaking craftsmen of its time. A search for excellence to create exceptional pieces that the Maison has conceived and designed itself.

Both in terms of their sources of inspiration, their savoir-faire and their design, the new timepieces for 2012 are exceptional pieces that like all Boucheron creations capture the light and enhance the precious materials of which they are made.

    AJOUREE

    THE THEATER OF LIGHT
THE ART OF SCULPTING LIGHT, A BOUCHERON WATCHMAKING TRADITION

As early as 1885, the fi rst bracelet watches for women created by Frédéric Boucheron were true jewels worthy of a piece of embroidery: interlacing of incredibly fine lines, hinting at the foliage in which children play; a tribute to transparency; an incomparably rich and light object!

Decorative objects with delicate openwork on a mirror base increase these effects of reflection in their turn, such as a vanity set created in 1947, whose clasp mysteriously conceals a watch.

The AJOUREE creation perpetuates this relatively rare technique, reviving its heritage in incredibly delicate and lively tone.

It opens a window to another world, an interplay of thin and thick strokes that allow the skin to appear, as if you could see through it. Whether by the name of AJOUREE Volute, AJOUREE Chameleon or AJOUREE Frog, each model in the AJOUREE design brings life, volume and lightness to curves and animals alike.

In the three models, the diamond paved settings on the outer ring of the case and all around the dial are like halos of light that underline the delicacy of the motif and the subtle handiwork.

Each watch is a jewel that tells time, a skillful display of volume, relief and roundness.

FROM GOLDSMITH TO POLISHER: THE SIGNATURE OF THE BOUCHERON SAVOIR-FAIRE

AJOUREE reveals the magic of the goldsmith and the art of the polisher. Goldsmiths use highly specialized tools to hammer and sculpt gold. They are, quite literally, smiths or artifi cers of gold. The delicacy and extreme rigor of their skills endow the AJOUREE creation with its perfect precision, interlacing curves, interplays of light and shade, texture… in short: the balance between heaven and earth.

The master polisher gives the AJOUREE watch its unique radiance. In his quest for a perfectly polished finish down to the finest detail, he highlights every effect of volume, movement and texture to bring every facet to life.

    THE MAGIC OF BOUCHERON’S STONES

AJOUREE does not shine merely due to its gold and the incredible complexity of its craftsmanship. Its radiance also comes from the range of sizes and colors of the stones that bring the Volutes and animals to life, creating a variation of light. The different stone diameters underscore the different volumes, while the multicolored paved settings amplify the intensity of the light on the animal, making it even more vivid.

The Volutes seem to rise towards the heavens, the Chameleon transforms before our eyes and the Frog is poised to leap.

    AJOUREE FROG

The final creation in this mischievous, companionable collection, AJOUREE Frog is a playful and whimsical piece.

Like the chameleon, the frog belongs to the Maison Boucheron’s enchanted bestiary... It now changes from a ring to a watch. Straight out of a fairytale, concealing a prince or a lover’s song, it is a lucky charm, a messenger.

Sitting next to the lotus flower, the frog seems poised to jump off the case to embrace the watch’s sparkling white lacquer dial.
The fruit of painstaking work, the multicolored paved setting and the extraordinary pink ombré effect reflect the changing glow of light on the animal’s “skin” and the subtle radiance of the flower petals. More than 120 diamonds, 150 pink sapphires, 30 rubies and three tsavorites adorn this jewelry composition. The stone setting on white gold further intensifies this extremely subtle play of color tones in which the lotus dialogues with the frog as if in a fable by La Fontaine.
