Watches and Wonders, Geneva – March 27, 2023: TAG Heuer is proud to announce the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200, the first bi-color model of the Swiss watch company’s reborn TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional collection. The new material palette adds a layer of urbane sophistication to the high-performance sports watch made to go beyond the edge.

MATERIAL GAIN: Adding solid gold to the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional

As the name suggests, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 blends stainless steel and solid 18-karat gold to create a high- concept sports watch that is at once extreme and elegant. Each of the four new Steel & Gold models features a stainless-steel case, complemented by an 18-karat solid-gold bezel inlay and crown and by 18-karat-gold-plated detailing on the hands and hour markers.

This luxurious finish is in keeping with TAG Heuer’s continuing pursuit of higher quality and excellence, and with the company’s vision to deliver best-in-class materiality, reliability, and performance.

TWO SIZES TO THE STORY: The Steel & Gold is available with a 40 mm or 30 mm case diameter

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional series was conceived with ergonomics in mind. Throughout the collection’s development, TAG Heuer’s designers and engineers prioritized comfort and elegance, fine-tuning every detail to make the watch feel lighter on the wrist without losing any of its presence or authority.

As a result, every watch in the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional series has a commanding silhouette while at the same time delivering superlative feel and usability.

The new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 picks up this thread with four models in two case sizes: two at 40 mm and a further pair at 30 mm. The larger, neutral size remains versatile and hugely wearable thanks to its slim profile. The smaller delivers the same cocktail of performance and style in a more modestly proportioned package.

SHADES OF EVERYDAY: Two colorways, 11 diamonds, and all-day style

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200’s design means it is equally at home speed flying and ice skiing as it is slipping under a buttoned cuff.

And the Steel & Gold is no exception. The collection offers two handsome, striking colorways: one in black and rose gold, and one in blue and yellow gold. The dials have fumé dials – smokey dial finishes that are reminiscent of the way light fades at the end of the day – that further complement the mix of steel and 18-karat gold. The overall effect is one of cool sophistication.

To protect the watch’s adventurous character, the gold elements have a brushed rather than a polished finish, which simultaneously gives the watch so much of its classy, high-quality feel. Reiterating the watch’s inherent functionality and the attention paid to every to detail, the minute scale on the bezel is engraved and then sandblasted to create contrast and therefore legibility.

The smaller 30-mm models are decorated further with 11 Top Wesselton diamond-dot hour markers (totaling 0.107 carats), a chic twist that will appeal to wearers who like their adventures to sparkle.

Both pieces are set on rubber straps with steel clasps and comfort link extension systems (as found on bracelet models in the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional family) in either black or blue to match the dial color. Rubber straps are still relatively new to the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 family: the first model with a rubber strap was the revolutionary Solargraph, which was introduced earlier this year.

REPUTATION LASTS FOREVER: Building on firm foundations

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 builds on the reputation established by generations of stylish, high-performance TAG Heuer sports watches and by nearly two decades of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer.

When the TAG Heuer Aquaracer was first introduced in 2004, it updated a blueprint created by the iconic 2000 Series of TAG Heuer sports watches in the 1980s. All TAG Heuer Aquaracer models would continue to showcase these six signature features: a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown, water resistance to at least 200 meters, luminous markings, a sapphire crystal, and a double safety clasp. TAG Heuer Aquaracer wearers have come to rely on these characteristics for their usefulness and reliability.

The Steel & Gold also picks up on the refined details introduced into the next-generation TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional by the Swiss watchmaker. It features the now familiar 12-sided unidirectional rotating bezel with its alternating fluted edges for grip and ease of use, the signature horizontal lines running across the dial, and crown protection.

Both the 40-mm and 30-mm models are powered by Swiss-made automatic mechanical movements that provide them with hour, minutes, seconds, and date indications. The 40-mm model features the TAG Heuer Calibre 5; the 30 mm the TAG Heuer Calibre 9. And both promise water resistance to 200 meters.

Further symbolizing the robust, versatile nature of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional Series is the case back of the new Steel & Gold models. Each is cast in steel and decorated with repeating hexagon and compass motifs that echo the watch’s go-anywhere spirit of exploration.
