Crazy Ma Jolie: A Wildly Sensual Carrousel
Since 2007, Boucheron had essentially drawn from its bestiary to offer boldly-styled watches, often tinged with a hint of malice. For this year of transition into a new decade, Boucheron has chosen to explore a totally new field of emotions and enrich its palette with designs dedicated to those for whom sensuality is a delightful weapon of seduction.
Yielding to Crazy Ma Jolie’s whimsical spirit is almost a form of euphoria, triggered by the symbolism of its sensual and spiral shapes, like an allegory of a whirlwind of senses.
The dial’s most noteworthy feature is its sophisticated construction, the centre of which is adorned with ribbon motifs set with diamonds and colour stones to form an interlacing pattern resembling sheer lacework. Like petticoats caught up in a frenzied dance, the motifs will exalt the femininity of any woman who decides to wear it on her wrist. On a mother-of-pearl background, they form the centre of an instinctively eye-catching offset composition of gold openwork. Like a tiara, the floating corolla features a bezel-set diamond at the end of each gold thread.
The eye follows the path of its suggestive curves and is eventually caught by the seconds hand, its artful gradient of blended colours revealed in a hypnotic round dance and its pace set by a self-winding mechanical movement from the Girard-Perregaux manufacture. This jewel beautifully reflects passing time, seduces the eye and reveals the magic of femininity, its mystery and sensuality, with the right amount of sparkle and glitter.
The Crazy Ma Jolie watches come in three versions, each unveiling a different virtuoso stone-setting method. With their powerful expression of craftsmanship, these watches vibrate with intense sensuality and bring the jeweller’s art and sensitivity to the very heart of the timepiece. However, as rules are made to be broken, the final piece is fashioned in such a way that the baguette diamonds set on the bezel seem to have been propelled outside the dial by the frenzied dance within.
