DESCRIPTION

  • GIRARD-PERREGAUX 1966 LADY MOON-PHASES
Precision at the service of elegance

Refinement is a virtue in High Watchmaking. So is the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Lady Moon-Phases whose perfect circle echoes its beautiful mechanism. The watch pays homage to the Manufacture's commitment to watchmaking excellence and its loyalty to the codes of elegance. Within a gold case of such finesse that it borders on perfection beats a Girard-Perregaux mechanical movement with automatic winding and moon phases.

Girard-Perregaux has always experimented with innovative watchmaking approaches. This pioneer was one of the few Manufactures to have its own Research and Development team in the 1960s. In 1965, it presented the first movement with 36,000 vibrations/hour, which would provide an exceptionally precise performance. So much so that 73% of the chronometer certificates issued by the Neuchâtel Observatory in 1967 were awarded to Girard-Perregaux.

The arrival of the Girard-Perregaux 1966 pays homage to this period by integrating the fruit of the Manufacture's permanent commitment to its quest for performance and reliability. Since 2006 the line has proposed Girard-Perregaux movements with automatic winding in ultra-thin cases that make slimness an art. With its automatic calibre and harmoniously circular case, the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Lady Moon-Phases completes the collection, giving it the magic of a lunar calendar with a touch of femininity.

Gold has been chosen for the precious case that presents a highly subtle decoration. The case, 36 mm in diameter, remains faithful to the great classics of watchmaking. The white mother-of-pearl dial, hand-polished to obtain greater reflection, is haloed by a bezel that offers that which femininity holds dearest: absolute radiance. Fifty-four diamonds crown the piece, helping to create a charming constellation.

On the dial, extreme refinement reigns supreme. A Roman numeral at 12 o'clock and two appliqués at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock are harmonious and distinctive, echoed by nine diamonds. The guardians of time, the leaf-shaped hours and minutes hands are adorned with gold while the blued steel small seconds hand dances around the moon-phases indicator. The latter is cradled by a delicate sun-shaped counterweight. In a feminine detail that completes the beauty of this star, a discreet face lends it personality. Rendering the piece even more precious, a glossy black alligator-leather strap offers a touch of comfort and elegance, gracefully closed with a gold ardillon buckle engraved with the Girard-Perregaux logo.

The delicacy of the piece goes hand in hand with the beauty of its mechanism. At its heart there beats a manufactured mechanical movement with automatic winding. Complete with a power reserve of over 46 hours, the calibre possesses a pink gold oscillating weight engraved with “GP” motifs forming a decorative tapestry visible through a transparent case back. The product of over 220 years of watchmaking expertise, the movement remains faithful to the famous calibre 3000, the origin of the Girard-Perregaux 1966 collection.
