    THE MAISON BOUCHERON
THE HISTORY OF LUXURY & TIMELESSNESS

The first jeweler on Place Vendôme, the Maison opened its doors in Paris under the arches of the Palais Royal in 1858. From the very beginning, Frédéric Boucheron set the tone: this international adventurer traveled to mines all over the world in order to acquire the very finest stones. He was a forerunner in terms of style and technique, and his inventions soon won prizes at the World’s Fairs; he was a man on a continual quest for excellence. For him, every jewel was a work of art and every watch should be a jewel.

True to this spirit of distinction, guided by the search for elegance and modernity, Boucheron has established a reputation for more than 150 years as the jeweler of light in the “City of Light”.
Today, it is the only jewelry Maison whose workshops still overlook the famous Place.
None other has succeeded in winning the favor of both royalty and that of clients with more audacious and carefree tastes.

Boucheron is known and renowned for the quality of its stones and the painstaking care and attention it lavishes on highlighting them, for passing on its savoir-faire from generation to generation, for its ongoing quest for innovation with the best craftsmen of its age, and for the technical prowess of its jewels and timepieces.

    BOUCHERON WATCHMAKING CREATIVITY IN 2012

From 1859, Boucheron watches have been distinguished by their esthetics as much as by their ingenuity. Like all Boucheron creations, they tell a story and arouse emotion. This quest for elegance, modernity and excellence continues in 2012, with the exceptional new pieces AJOUREE, CRAZY JUNGLE HATHI, HIBISCUS TOURBILLON and CYPRIS TOURBILLON WITH THREE GOLD BRIDGES.

Inspired by fabulous bestiary and other symbols dear to Boucheron, each timepiece is designed like a jewelry creation, the work of a true craftsman to sculpt movement, create light and give life to dreamlike or playful piece... in short: a new gem in the extraordinary collection of watches from Boucheron.

In addition to the codes of the Maison, such as variations in volume, rounded lines, or stone setting of a unique quality, Boucheron skillfully and harmoniously combines its savoir-faire with that of the best watchmaking craftsmen of its time. A search for excellence to create exceptional pieces that the Maison has conceived and designed itself.

Both in terms of their sources of inspiration, their savoir-faire and their design, the new timepieces for 2012 are exceptional pieces that like all Boucheron creations capture the light and enhance the precious materials of which they are made.

    HIBISCUS TOURBILLON

    DELICATE FLIGHT

Measuring and serving as a memoire to time, every Boucheron watch has a history behind it.

Entirely in keeping with the lightness and grace of the 2012 watchmaking creations, HIBISCUS TOURBILLON is an ethereal watch born of the meeting between High Jewelry and High Watchmaking.

In the HIBISCUS TOURBILLON timepiece, the hummingbird that is gathering the flower’s nectar symbolizes this crystalline and poetic voice. Like the swan, peacock and the flamingo known for their grace, it is one of the noble creatures cherished by the Maison Boucheron.

A delicate aspect infuses every detail: the hand-engraved leaves on the dial sculpted in white mother-of-pearl; the blue sapphires that reflect the hues of the hummingbird’s feathers and the blue karung strap that echoes it; the pink sapphire flower barely resting on the diamond bezel; the visible Tourbillon like a window into an intimate world... in short, total harmony between the jeweler’s art and watchmaking expertise brings the watch and its history into perfect harmony.

THE MAGIC OF THE FLYING TOURBILLON

Invented in the 20th century, the fl ying tourbillon is one of the most complex and prestigious watch complications. This mechanism allows the carriage to spin upon itself and as if by magic is one of the extraordinary precisions only mastered by a chosen few watchmakers.

In the HIBISCUS TOURBILLON watch, the lightness of the movement is highlighted by its branches in the form of leaves; a fl oral decoration that animates by the song of the bird. Echoing the balancing skill of a hummingbird in mid-flight, the center two leaves on the frame are beautifi ed by diamonds that beat to the seconds. Finally, to give ultimate freedom to the graceful expression of flight and that of the precious flying tourbillon, the hours and minutes are indicated at 1 o’clock as a small reminder of the placement of Boucheron’s Parisian fl agship at number 26, place Vendôme.
