CRAZY SHÉHÉRAZADE: Bewitching Beauty
Following in the footsteps of the Tourbillon Shéhérazade, Boucheron returns to the bright and bold world of the Orient with the Crazy Shéhérazade timepiece. Inspired by the bewitching beauty whose skill at storytelling enchanted the king in the novel “One Thousand and One Nights”, this watch will also cast a spell on its wearer.
The craftsmen at Boucheron have created a kaleidoscope effect on the face of this 42mm watch. It daringly draws the eye into a colorful and spinning world of bejeweled light and texture. The watch comes in two distinctive color palettes, a blazing red and gold or a cool blue and gray dial. The artisans chose Sonora Sunrise for the former and Lapis Lazuli for the latter, to outline the almond shaped apertures on the dial. They deftly cut 27 pieces in 11 different dimensions to create a mosaic upon the dial completing this stained-glass effect. Nestled within each opening of this timepiece, one finds a distinctive mix of diamonds and multicolored sapphires that have been meticulously arranged to form a mosaic effect reminiscent of those found in Oriental palaces.
The attention to detail can also be perceived in the minute perlage that frames each aperture and the tactile orfévrerie that has engraved the edges of the dial in rippling triangles of gold. These subtle embellishments enhance the feeling of volume of the timepiece and give another plan on which light can reflect back in a rich luminosity befitting these exceptional watches.
Beneath its beautiful exterior, the customized Girard-Perregaux GP 4000 movement and “Crazy Seconds” module spin in perfect time. Located at 7 o’clock, the opening is encircled by two rows of jewels and delicately echoes the larger watch motif. This movement attracts the eye into the dial and gives a heightened sense of depth and volume to the timepiece. But it is the shifting colors of the “Crazy Seconds” module that will truly hypnotize watch connoisseurs and entrance them for generations.
