THE DIOR GRAND BAL COLLECTION UNVEILS A NEW SERIES OF ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECES, INSPIRED BY THE ENCHANTED UNIVERSE OF THE MASKED BALL.
The famous “Ball of the Century”, held by Charles de Beistegui in 1951 at the Palazzo Labia in Venice, for which Monsieur Dior had designed several sumptuous costumes, was the most extravagant society ball of its time. That celebration, the quintessence of audacity, elegance and excessiveness, left a deep and inspiring impression on Monsieur Dior, fascinated since forever by the world of parties and society balls. “It was the most beautiful evening ball I have seen or ever will see” , wrote Christian Dior in his memoirs.
Today, that extraordinary event comes to life once again under the watch glass of our iconic Dior Grand Bal collection, where dancing Masks are a timely ode to the joy of life. That love for celebration is majestically enhanced in this showcase,designed with precious faces and starstudded with gold and diamonds. The lines of sapphires highlight the eyes, while their lashes are adorned with silky and colourful feathers.
Refinement is extended along to the cheeks, blushed with ornamental stones whose sparkling reflections make these magnificent Masks swirl to the rhythm of the party. At the heart of this wondrous waltz of colours, a mysterious golden-faced woman hides her secret identity whilst daring to be extravagant…The Dior Grand Bal Masqué timepieces are equipped with an automatic movement, exclusive to the Maison Dior, the “Dior Inversé 11 1/2 calibre”, featuring the functional oscillating weight on the topside of the dial, that reproduces the swirl of a ball gown.
