A new « pearl » at Oris

An occasion for the two passionate to make us (re)discover the pillars of the Swiss independent maison and, who knows, to reveal us a « icing on the cake » exclusively!
Tuesday, June 28th, 8PM, Paris time, simultaneously in several countries, here is the new Oris New York Harbor Limited Edition that supports the Billion Oyster Project. Focus on a « pearl » whose secret was preciously kept until the last minute and that Frank sans C shows in his programme dedicated to the iconic pieces of the brand.

After collaborating with many non-profit organisations – such as the Coral Restoration Foundation – (see our article: Saving Private Coral) to fight against global warming and act for the protection of the oceans, Oris carries on its mission « Change for the Better », by displaying its new partnership with the Billion Oyster Project. Co-founder, Pete Malinowski, highlights the need to restore the oyster population to rebuild an ecosystem in danger.
Indeed, disappeared from the Hudson River whereas the oysters were many, there are centuries ago, the oyster reappears little by little. Thanks to the support of 11,000 volunteers, 8,000 students, 100 schools of New York and about fifty restaurants, 75 millions of shellfishes are now in the New York Harbor. Something to be proud of and hope by 2035 that billions of oysters in the New York Harbor will be restored.

Therefore, it is understandably that Oris displays the New York Harbor Limited Edition of 2,000 pieces whose sale will support the Billion Oyster Project. Inspired by the Aquis collection, emblematic of the maison, this special edition has a 41.5 mm-diameter steel case.
Unidirectional rotating bezel with minutes scale in relief, hands and hour marker covered with a luminescent material, crown, and caseback both screw-down and a water-resistance to 300 m, are characteristics of this true diving instrument.
The whole is powered by a high-performance self-winding calibre whose gears are hidden from the curious eyes by a steel caseback, where are engraved the name of the watch and a drawing representing oysters. Delivered on a steel bracelet, this reference that will attract as men as women has also a rubber strap – interchangeable thanks to the strap changing tool – combined with the green dial. Made of mother-of-pearl, it is a clearly reminiscent of the coloured shades of the inside of oysters’ shells.
